Website Re-launch and Maintaining Search Rankings - Sitemaps as Search Engine Food
(Page 3 of 9 )
A sitemap is an excellent way to expose all websites' deep pages to search engine spiders. Place the sitemap's text link high within the new website's design so even truncated spider searches will always have the opportunity to follow the link.
The sitemap page should be constructed of purely text links leading to all those nooks and crannies of your website. In the future, I will write an article on creating effective search engine friendly sitemaps. For now, use the KISSES method: Keep It Simple So Engines Spider. I just made that up, but it works.
By keeping the sitemap link on each web page, high in the design, text-based, and the sitemap easy to index, you solve all those reasons for not having pages indexed.
