The Importance of Building Links - Effective Linking Strategies
(Page 3 of 4 )
Every day there are new ideas popping up all over the Internet that help sites link to one another. So which strategies work best?
As I said earlier, search engines have definitely evolved over time. Over the past seven years or so we have seen the important aspects of links go from simply quantity and evolve into a sophisticated computer algorithm that measures quantity and quality of links. So the days of just swapping ink with every site known to man are over, boo hoo!
Your ideal linking strategy would be one that successfully generates thousands of related links to your web site and also ensures your anchor text is not duplicated over and over. So I've come up with some effective linking strategies for you to try. While these strategies involve more work than simply finding a site and sending an e-mail asking for a link swap, I am sure you will find they are effective and will really boost your rankings.
Not all linking strategies apply to all web sites. It is important to determine what strategies actually work for your web site. Of the two strategies I will discuss here, one can be applied to an e-commerce site and the other is primarily used for service providers/informational sites.
So let's crack the second nut first and discuss how to effectively build links that will actually increase your web site rankings if you have a site that provides information or a service.
Many people fail to realize that more people go to the web for information and research compared to the number of people who go to the web to buy a product. If your web site sells a service you should be offering expert information about your service FOR FREE. Providing free information not only provides your audience with what they want, you are also giving the search engines what they want, which is lots of content! Additionally, you are building trust with your readers.
Try writing some articles and posting them to article web sites that allow other web site owners to put your articles on their web sites. Find article submission services that allow you to add a one or two paragraph signature at the beginning or end of each article. Every article you write should have a different signature and, most importantly, it should have links to related information on your web site. The related information on your web site can be more articles, discussions, blog entries, and so forth. Most importantly, make sure you submit your on-site content to the major news feeder sites like del.icio.us, dig, and nowpublic. These are another great way to get exposure and links to your content.
Finally, make sure the article submission service you choose requires web site owners to put your signature on their site. Some don't; these will not help your rankings and you are wasting your time with them.
