Search Engine Submissions: Don’t Even Bother - What Many People Don’t Know about Indexing
(Page 3 of 5 )
Many novice webmasters are simply unaware of the ways to get a site included in the various search engines. In fact, the widespread lack of knowledge on the subject has spawned an entire submission industry. There is certainly no need to use the various electronic submission services especially for gaining entry into the Google search index.
There is a shady side of the submission industry and much of it is based on sending spam e-mails. The supposed inclusions take advantage of the fallacies surrounding search engine indexing. Further misconceptions arise when many people new to the website business believe that their sites must be resubmitted to the search engines on a monthly basis.
Once a website is indexed by the search engines, it remains indexed. There is simply no need to keep submitting it. There is also a myth that each and every page of a site must be submitted separately for inclusion. That is simply not the case. There is also no need to submit to the hundreds of minor search engines on the Internet. Inclusion in the majors is usually enough for virtually all practical purposes.
As with the home page, there is no need for the continual sending of pages. The search engine spiders will deep crawl a website’s internal pages, provided they are created properly to allow for spidering. Following the deep crawl, the internal pages will also be indexed by the search engine.
Be certain to include a site map as part of your website design. It serves a dual purpose. First of all, it enables the search engine spiders to crawl all of the pages of your site. Secondly, a site map doubling as a site menu helps your visitors to easily navigate your site.
